The Great Bend Fire Department started accepting bids to remove and replace 16,000 square feet of concrete at Fire Station #2, on west 10th Street. The project will replace three sections of the driveway with 6" thick concrete.
City Administrator Brandon Anderson said the Fire Department has $221,000 set aside in their capital outlay fund for the project.
"I think it's a project that the Fire Department has been talking about for a while," said Anderson. "They've been making patches and repairs along the way. It's something we need to take a look at."
A second area to be bid separate is the addition of new concrete of 6,000 square feet adjacent to the burn building.
"We'll be anxious to see what those bids look like when we get them back," said Anderson. "We're a little concerned because we know concrete prices are making a jump as well."
Request for proposals will be accepted until Jan. 8, 2024 at greatbendks.net.
