Janice Schultz, age 84

Janice Marie Schultz, 84, passed away September 22, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born December 8, 1938, in Great Bend to Daniel and Selma (Hartman) Scheck. Janice married Bernard Mauler, Jr. June 18, 1957, then later married Leslie L. Schultz May 20, 1982, in Pawnee Rock. Leslie passed away March 24, 2002.

Janice, a current resident of Great Bend moving from Pawnee Rock in 2007, was a 1957 graduate of Otis High School and faithfully served as a Nurse Aide at Central Kansas Medical Center for many years. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis, as well as being active in the Bergthal Mennonite Church, Pawnee Rock, and enjoyed sewing, German heritage food, and time spent with family and friends, often times traveling many miles. She was also known for her quilting skills, awarding many quilts to Service Members and Veterans through Quilts of Valor. She gifted many quilts to family members.

Survivors include one son, Michael Mauler of Great Bend; three daughters, Susan Grimes (Fred) of Auburn, Calif., Michele Johnson (David) of Gainesville, Mo., and Sandra Kuhn (Jeff) of Clovis, Calif..; three stepdaughters, Ronda Hixon (Larry) of Pawnee Rock, Debra Schultz of Tulsa, Okla.; and Marla Davidson (Greg) of Great Bend; and six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by husband, Leslie; an infant sister, Brenda Scheck; and a daughter in law, Julie Mauler.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis, with Stan Ewy SAM, presiding. Interment will follow at Mennonite Memorial Cemetery, Pawnee Rock. Visitation will be Noon to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
