The Easter holiday is over and it’s back to business as usual this week. Tonight, the Great Bend City Council will hold its first regularly-scheduled meeting for the first time in a month with several items on the agenda.

The body will consider an operating agreement with SRCA regarding the dragstrip west of town. Under the agreement, the city would maintain ownership of the dragstrip, as well as responsibility for major structural maintenance and repairs of city-owned assets. SRCA will be responsible for scheduling and conducting races, providing staff and security, operating concessions, paying utilities, and cleaning the facility after events. Under the proposed agreement, the city of Great Bend will keep 25 percent of net revenue while SRCA retains 75 percent.

The council will also consider approving two supplemental KDOT Aviation Grants in the amount of $146,000 and $450,000. Improvements at the airport included the rehabilitation of Runway 17-35, and a design for Runway 11-29.

Also up for consideration are temporary extensions of the premises at Dry Lake Brewing on April 12 and April 26, and on May 9. The downtown business will celebrate its fifth anniversary on May 9.

Tonight’s city council meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
