From the city of Great Bend
To combat the upcoming stretch of extreme heat, the city of Great Bend will extend its daily Splash Pad hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., effective immediately.
Staff consultation determined the need for an earlier start time to better serve the safety and comfort of citizens utilizing the facility during high temperatures. This change is temporary and will stay in effect until cooler weather returns.
All current Splash Pad operating rules remain in place. The Splash Pad will not operate on days when temperatures do not exceed 75 degrees. For a complete list of rules and operating information, visit[www.greatbendks.gov/SplashPad]www.greatbendks.gov/SplashPad.
The final date of the Splash Pad has yet to be determined. The Wetlands Waterpark will close for the season on Sunday, Aug. 9.
