Dalton Dale crushed a pair of two-run homers and drove in six total as the Hays High Indians beat Great Bend 16-6 in six innings Tuesday in Hays.
The first four Indian batters scored in the bottom of the first as Hays never trailed.
Great Bend cut the lead in half in the top of the third inning at 4-2 before Hays plated one in the third and three more in the fourth for a 8-2 advantage.
The Indians led 10-5 after the top half of the sixth inning. They scored six runs, all with two outs, in the bottom half of the frame. Dalton Dale hit the first pitch he saw from the fourth Panther pitcher over the left field fence for a 16-6 run rule victory.
The second game of the series will be played in Great Bend on Thursday, April 21.
