Tate James Martin, 17, died tragically of wounds suffered in a vehicle accident on Dec. 7 , at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born on June 26, 2005, in Hutchinson, to parents Casey and Michele (Booze) Martin, he was a lifetime Ellinwood resident and current Junior at Ellinwood High. Additionally, Tate worked alongside his father and enjoyed farm work. Tate loved to hunt, fish and spent any free time with friends and family. He was greatly loved by all those who knew him. Tate was very involved with the Ellinwood Energizers 4H Club and FFA Ellinwood HS Chapter and will be missed at these organizations.
He leaves behind parents Casey and Michele Martin; brother, Levi Martin; sisters, Haleigh Martin and Elizabeth Martin; grandparents, Steve and Terry Martin and Randy and Vickie Booze; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Tate was preceded in death by his great-grandparents and uncle Bob Booze.
Memorial service will take place Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m., at First Christian Church in Great Bend, with Pastor Josh Leu officiating. Visitation will take place Dec. 13 from noon-7 p.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested as a gift to the family to help with funeral expenses in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
