Fresh off helping lead the No. 3 Barton Community College men's track and field team to a runner-up finish at the KJCCC/Region 6 Outdoor Championships, Jaylon Calder has been named the KJCCC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Calder racked up 18 points at the Phillips Track and Field Complex in Arkansas City across two days of competition, also earning Field Athlete of the Meet honors, marking the third consecutive year a Cougar has claimed the distinction.

The sophomore from Jamaica backed the accolade with a dominant showing in the discus, capturing the title by more than 25 feet with a personal best throw of 55.08m (180-08). The mark moves Calder into 10th on Barton's all-time list while continuing the program's three-year run atop the event.

On Saturday, Calder added a third-place finish in the shot put (15.39m) and placed seventh in the hammer throw (50.05m), contributing to Barton's third straight regional runner-up finish and extending the program's streak to ten consecutive seasons placing inside the top two.

Nationally qualified in all three of his events, Calder and the Cougars now turn their attention to the national stage, traveling to Hobbs, New Mexico, May 14–16 for the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Championships held at Ross Black Field of Champions.
