Snow is predicted around the Golden Belt on Monday and Tuesday but it's not too early to think about swim season. The city of Hoisington is accepting applications for lifeguards for the upcoming summer. City Administrator Jonathan Mitchell said even previous lifeguards must submit a new application.
"We're looking for anyone interested in serving at the Hoisington pool this summer," he said. "They have to be at least 15 years of age. Typically, we prefer 16 and over, but if they're a responsible young person we'll consider it at 15 as well."
Certified and uncertified parties are encouraged to apply. The city may handle certification costs.
"We have a couple different certification options," Mitchell said. "Typically, Great Bend Rec does that and we partner with them on that. We also are hoping to offer a course at our pool closer to the season. If they're committed to working with our pool, we will cover the cost of certification."
Interested parties can call the city office at (620) 653-4125 with questions or swing by the office to pick up an application.
