The Great Bend Recreation Commission Board did not miss a beat after September’s meeting when board member Jessica Milsap announced she was moving to Wichita and would no longer be able to serve on the board. The Great Bend Rec introduced Amanda Staab as Milsap’s replacement the following month at Monday’s meeting.
"I said real early on, when I spoke with the mayor, I'm not hear to shake things up or change things," said Staab. "I truly want to invest in the community. The Rec has always been near and dear to my heart. I'm looking forward to it."
Born and raised in Great Bend, Staab mentioned she started attending GBRC classes when she was five years old. The mother of three is a communications strategist for Barton Community College.
“I am eager to play a role in shaping the recreational opportunities available to the community," added Staab. "My childhood development was greatly influenced by the programs and opportunities provided by the Recreation Commission and now the same for my own children.”
Appointed by the City of Great Bend, Staab will fill the remainder of Milsap’s term until the end of 2027.
