Barton women finish 12th at NJCAA Women's Golf Championships

The 12th ranked Barton Community College women's golf team wrapped up the 2022 season with a 12th place finish at the NJCAA Division I Championships in Sanford, Florida.

The Cougars posted a 63-over 351 in the final round at the at Mayfair Country Club, slipping from the eleventh spot in being passed over by Ranger College's solid final two rounds to better Barton by four strokes on the final team leaderboard.

Pawinee Sukasem put together her fourth straight consistent round of Nationals play to lead the Cougars, saving her best for last in leading the Cougars' final round score posting a 13-over 85 including her second straight birdie on the par four 3rd hole.

A stroke behind on Thursday with a 14-over 86, Mathanee Pandee also birdied the 3rd hole for her sixth red number on the card leading to 31st final position on the leaderboard at 45-over 333.

Pornnapa Inmee became the third Cougar to birdie the No. 3 in the final round, posting an 18-over 90 round to finish in 56th overall at 62-over 350.

Aside from an opening round 97, Matilyn Newman continued to come up big for the Cougars recording her third straight solid round of 18-over 90 to help the Cougars. Moving up four more spots on the leaderboard, Newman landed in 63rd place compiling a 74-over 362.

Paulina Villavicencio book ended her national trip with her two best rounds, wrapping up the final round with a 20-over 92. Battling through sickness all week, Villavicencio finished in 76th place at 85-over 373.
