On April 5, 2021 the Great Bend City Council approved a loan to the SRCA to assist with the costs of building retaining walls and installing new timing systems at the dragstrip.
The terms call for annual payments due on Dec. 31. Since the dragstrip is not operating, the SRCA's ability to generate the funds to make the 2023 payment have been impaired. The SRCA is asking that the council agree to defer this payment during the pendency of the legal actions concerning the dragstrip.
A motion will be presented to the city council on Tuesday, Jan. 2 to defer the SRCA's loan payments during the legal actions related to the lawsuit.
The city council meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.
