The Great Bend Economic Development is looking to get all of those dreamers and entrepreneurs together that are seeking inspiration and advice. Starting in March, and the second Friday of each month after, Economic Development will host “Creative Mornings” at Perks Coffee on Main Street.
Eco Devo Communications Director Lee Ann June said the idea came from previous entrepreneurial courses.
"My mentor, Jim Correll who came in and did our Ice House class, he talked about a way for alumni in that class to get together," said June. "They did a brownbag lunch concept, but sometimes people have a hard time getting away during their lunch hour. We came up with the idea for before work and Perks just reopened. It made sense."
The second Friday of each month, starting at 7:15 a.m., citizens thinking about starting a new business, innovators, current business owners, or anyone curious about the business world will meet at the coffee shop for focused discussion and an open floor to exchange ideas and experiences.
"Jim suggested watching a short video," said June. "They would talk about the topic, then talk about what sticking points they have and how to make things easier for each other."
While Great Bend Economic Development encourages you to support Perks by enjoying their food and drinks, there is no charge to join the group discussion. The first “Creative Mornings” will be March 8.
