Great Bend man arrested after barricading himself in bedroom with knife

On Jan. 21, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers with the Great Bend Police Department were dispatched to the 3800 block of 12th Street in Great Bend in reference to a recover property call. Upon arrival at the residence, officers observed a male subject, later identified as Adrian Lemuz, 44, outside the residence.

While the Officers were exiting their vehicles, Lemuz forced his way inside of the residence. Officers made entry into the residence and were able to safely get the two female occupants out of the residence. Lemuz then barricaded himself in a bedroom with a knife. After a period of time, Lemuz surrendered and was taken into custody.

The Great Bend Police Department was assisted by the Barton County Sheriff's Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol. Lemuz was arrested for Aggravated Burglary, Interference with LEO and Criminal Deprivation of Property. He was transported to the Barton County Jail where he was booked and held in lieu of these charges.
