Harold Lee Miller, 88, passed away at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington, KS on Sept. 19th, 2023. Born on Jan. 19, 1935 in Skedee, OK he was the son of Clarence Lee & Lorene Evelyn (Whittle) Miller. A longtime Ellinwood resident, Harold graduated from Hudson HS in 1954 and married Elma “Jean” Sessler on Oct. 16, 1954 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood. They shared 67 years of memories together before her passing in 2022. Harold and Jean enjoyed roller skating, ice fishing, raising four children, creating keepsakes for craft shows, and took pride in their children and grandchildren’s’ accomplishments. The grandkids have many fond memories of fishing with Papa, and making deer sausage in his homemade smoker. Harold was an avid outdoorsman and craftsman who could make and repair almost anything. Harold was skilled from a variety of different occupations. He retired as maintenance from the Ellinwood High School. Harold was a member of St. Joseph Church and Ellinwood Fire Department.
Survivors include son, Steve (Kim) Miller, Ellinwood; daughters, Cheryln (Jon) Christian and Angela Behnke, Hillsboro; daughter-in-law, Pam Miller, Ponca City, grandchildren, Troy, Michelle, Jessica, Autumn, Ryan, Scott, Brayden & Breauna; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elma “Jean” Miller; son, Nathan Miller; and sister, Peggy McGee.
Funeral Mass will take place 10:30 AM, Fri., Sept. 22nd at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellinwood with Fathers Terrance Klein & Pascal Klein officiating. Interment will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery. Visitation will take place 1-6 PM at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood on Thurs., Sept. 21stwith Vigil/Rosary service at 7 PM at St. Joseph Church. Memorials are suggested to Ellinwood F.R.A or St. Joseph School in care of Minnis Chapel, Po Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
