On Monday, June 20, crews will begin work on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) project. This project will include the reconstruction of 19th and Harrison and repaving of a portion of Broadway Avenue.
Anticipate the intersection at 19th & Harrison to be closed to all traffic for approximately four weeks. There will still be access to the Great Bend Middle School through detours around the intersection.
The second part of the project is the repaving of Broadway from Polk to Morton. Starting Monday, June 20, Broadway will be restricted to one way traffic. One lane will be blocked off while work is being performed. Once work in that lane is completed then the opposing lane will be shut down.
Expect approximately four weeks for completion of the two projects. Traffic will be detoured around these project areas as work demands and the city asks everyone to be careful and attentive when around these project sites.
If you have any questions or concerns, contact Sreehitha Kadiyala, Assistant City Engineer, at 620-793-4150 or skadiyala@greatbendks.net.
The total cost from Venture Corporation is $1,079,640 with a 50% reimbursement from the CDBG, up to $600,000.
