Chase Raymond Public Schools had the distinct honor of welcoming Kansas Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson and Kansas School Board Member Dennis Hershberger for a special visit in celebration of Read Across America Week. Dr. Watson engaged with our youngest learners by reading to our primary students, highlighting the importance of literacy and fostering a love of reading at an early age. Following this inspiring session, Dr. Watson and Mr. Hershberger took a guided tour of our district to witness firsthand the incredible learning opportunities that make Chase Raymond Public Schools truly special.
The tour showcased our commitment to hands-on, engaging education, including a visit to our high school woods and welding shops and the culinary arts program, where students proudly presented their freshly made pies. Along the way, our distinguished guests explored classrooms where small class sizes and expert instruction provide personalized learning experiences for every student. With daily core instruction and targeted interventions, students thrive academically, while also participating in a rich variety of programs such as Art, Agriculture, Physical Education, and Family and Consumer Sciences for all K-12 learners.
Families are the heart of our district, and we take pride in maintaining low-cost student fees, fostering strong family engagement, and ensuring every child graduates with a clear path for their future. Our robust preschool program for 3- and 4-year-olds ensures a strong educational foundation, while our strong alumni association keeps graduates connected and invested in our school's ongoing success.
Chase Raymond Public Schools is also dedicated to supporting our outstanding staff through daily and weekly collaborative professional learning communities (PLC+ framework), frequent and aligned professional development, and the guidance of a highly supportive administration. This culture of collaboration ensures that teachers continue to refine and enhance their instructional practices to improve student outcomes.
Our district remains deeply connected to the community, with partnerships that bridge education and industry. Students engage in service-based learning, hands-on experiences in welding, school farm projects, National FFA Organization, and cutting-edge programs such as Esports. With nine career pathways—including Health Science, Teaching and Training, Diversified Agriculture Science, Construction and Design, Agricultural Technology, Media Design, Family Community & Consumer Services, Food Products and Processing Systems, and Restaurant & Event Management—our students are equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed beyond the classroom.
Looking ahead, Chase Raymond Public Schools remains focused on improving learning outcomes through data-driven decision-making, evidence-based literacy instruction, and targeted interventions. By strengthening our core programs, supporting teacher growth, and preparing students for success in higher education and the workforce, we are shaping a bright future for our students and our community.
We are grateful to Dr. Randy Watson and Dennis Hershberger for taking the time to visit our district and witness the incredible work happening at Chase Raymond Public Schools. Their support and dedication to education reinforce our mission of empowering students, engaging families, and enriching our community.
