Effie G. Crowell, 97, Rush Center, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La Crosse, Kansas.
Effie was born July 10, 1925, in Taylor County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Ephram and Ona Candida (Pace) Million. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. She owned and operated Effie’s Place in Rush Center, Kansas, for 50+ years before her retirement.
She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas.
On June 9, 1942, she married Jefferson “Jeff” Crowell. He preceded her in death July 25, 1987.
Survivors include: one son, Gary Crowell (Carol), Rush Center, Kansas; one daughter, Linda Woods (Dave), Rush Center, Kansas; five grandchildren, Steven Crowell (Patty), Clearwater, Kansas, Trevor Crowell (Judy), McCracken, Kansas, Bryan Crowell, Russell, Kansas, Amy Gassmann (Eric), Grainfield, Kansas, and Julia Oetting (Blake), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 13 great grandchildren, Kevin, Matthew, Jacob, Rachel, Ryan, Gage, Cody, Nichole, Wyatt, Lauren, Dylan, Grayden, and Kinsley; nine great great grandchildren, Roman, Atley, Lindsay, Lauren, Beau, Nick, Faith, Cecelia, and Levi; and one great great great grandson, Myles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Tim Crowell; one brother, Clifford Million; and three sisters, Doris Congdon, Betty Wilson, and Eva Houston.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 7, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas.
Church visitation will be Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:20 A.M. at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas, with Pastor Wayne Baldyga officiating. Interment will be in the Locust Hill Cemetery, Rush Center, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the Rush County Fair Association, or the donor’s choice.
