Great Bend police make arrests related to drugs, domestic violence

Last Tuesday, shortly after 2 a.m., Officers with the Great Bend Police Department and Deputies with the Barton County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in the 300 block of Frey Street, Great Bend, in an attempt to locate a wanted subject. Upon the officer’s arrival, John Lynch, 48, was located. Lynch had outstanding warrants out of Barton, Stafford, and Kingman Counties.

Subsequent to Lynch's arrest, a narcotics search warrant was granted for the residence. During the search of the residence, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located. Lynch was booked into the Barton County Jail on the outstanding warrants as well as the charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Felony Interference with LEO.

On Friday, shortly before 5 p.m., officers with the Great Bend Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Chestnut Street, Great Bend, in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female victim, who advised that Dale Herzberg, 59, had threatened her with a knife. With the assistance of the Barton County Sheriff's Office, Herzberg was located at a residence just outside of the city limits of Great Bend. He was taken into custody and booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault Domestic Violence.
