Toward the end of the Barton County Commission meeting Tuesday, Commissioner Duane Reif gave a shout out to soon-to-be retired Hoisington Police Chief Kenton Doze.

Doze started as a police officer in 1995 and took on the role of Hoisington Police Chief in 2000.

"Chief Doze has played a key role in keeping the community safe for the past 30 years," said Reif. "We're grateful for his service to the community."

Doze’s final day will be Friday, June 19. A come-and-go reception for Chief Doze will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hoisington City Auditorium.

Captain Jay Bachar will assume the position of Police Chief following Doze’s retirement.
