Two Great Bend citizens arrested after drug search

On Monday, June 19 at about 10:15 p.m., Barton County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Hubbard Street in the City of Great Bend. During the course of the traffic stop, deputies became suspicious of potential drug activity. The Great Bend Police Department K9 Menta was at the scene and alerted to the presence of controlled substances.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle at which time suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found inside.

The driver of the vehicle, as well as a passenger, were both arrested at the scene. The driver was identified as Sheldon Amador, age 61 of Great Bend. The passenger was identified as Tara Amador, age 50 of Great Bend. Both were transported to the Barton County Jail. During the course of the intake at the jail, both were searched and more controlled substances were found to include methamphetamine and marijuana.

Both suspects were booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, introduction of contraband into a correctional facility as well as interference with law enforcement officer. Both are being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
