Last week a pipe that leads to the slide feature at the Wetlands Waterpark in Great Bend started having issues. The feature had to be closed as city crews examined the problem, and the pool staff lowered the admission price with the main pool still available.
City Administrator Logan Burns said the slide feature with the big water bucket is open again as the issue was with the small orange slide.
"We have four pipes coming down to the play feature," said Burns. "Three out of the four checked out with a pressure test. One of them we have suspect lines. We have a couple in the grass and one underneath concrete. We're hoping that it's not underneath the concrete. We'll do some more investigation and see what that entails."
Burns added that if the line that needed repairs was the one under concrete, the orange slide would likely be closed the rest of the summer.

The City Council is considering a roughly $6 million bond project to pay for a new pool, replacing the existing one built in 1936. The large water slides feature, added in 2005, would remain in place.
