PITTSBURG, Ks - For the First time since 2001, the Kansas Shrine Bowl game ended in a tie. The West and East battled to a 10-10 stalemate Saturday night at Pittsburg State's Carnie-Smith Stadium.
The West team drove the field and settled for a 29-yard field goal by
Dodge City’s Emanuel Aguilar with 23 seconds remaining.
The
only touchdown scored by the West team came in the first quarter when
Sedgwick quarterback Lance Hoffsommer, an Emporia State signee,
scrambled and scored from 10 yards out for a 7-0 lead late in the
first quarter.
The East team took the lead in the third
quarter on a seven yard TD run by Basehor-Linwood’s Zack Sisemore.
The extra point was good at it was 10-7 with 7:08 remaining in the
fourth quarter.
Shawnee Mission Northwest quarterback Blake Reeder was named the East MVP after completing 15 of 25 passes for 192 yards and adding 22 rushing yards. The West MVP was Cimarron defensive back Braxton Harrison, a Fort Hays State signee who finished with a team-high nine tackles and a pass breakup.
