They are called fall sports, but with temperatures hovering around the century mark even into the evening for the first week of September, it feels a lot like summer sports. Great Bend High School has made several scheduling changes to combat the heat.
The varsity football game with Scott City on this Friday has been moved back half an hour for a 7:30 p.m. kick. The move will also impact Eagle Media’s coverage of the game on B 104 3 The Point, pregame from Mike Hesher and Shawn Behr beginning at 7 p.m.
Hoisington’s football game against Hillsboro on Friday has been moved back a full hour to 8 p.m. Pregame with Brant Daughtry and Gene Manweiler will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m on 100.7 Eagle Country.
Larned’s football game at Smokey Valley has also been moved to 8pm. Pregame with Gary Wagner and Buddy Tabler will begin at approximately 7:50 p.m on Hits 106.9.
Back to Great Bend High School, the girls' golf event scheduled for Monday in Hays was rescheduled to Monday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.
The start time of Thursday's varsity tennis tournament in McPherson has been moved up to 8 a.m.
The Panther soccer teams were scheduled to play Tuesday and Thursday at the Cavanaugh Soccer Complex. All matches have been moved to 7:30 p.m. Junior varsity games will take place on the east field, and varsity games will take place on the center field.
