BARTON COUNTY—Three people were injured in an accident just before 2:30p.m. Sunday in Barton County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2019 Ford Fiesta driven by Skyler L. Bergelt, 21, Fort Bliss, Texas, was eastbound on Kansas 156 seven miles northeast of U.S. 56.
The driver was attempting to pass a semi. The car and a westbound 2016 GMC Yukon driven by Dan A. Weippert, 71, Garden City, collided head-on on the north shoulder.
EMS transported Bergelt to Wesley Medical Center. EMS transported Weippert and a passenger Julie K. Weippert, 64, Garden City, to the hospital in Great Bend. All three were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
