Great Bend Post
The start of the Great Bend Bat Cats season is three weeks away, and the
summer collegiate baseball team is in need of a few more host families to provide
housing for players. Bat Cats General Manager Roger Ward said a vital part of a
successful season is having host families to provide support and a family
atmosphere for the summer.
"It's essential for us to have a team," said Ward. "We need those host families to take in the players so they have a place to stay and a little comradery. These players are trying to chase their dreams. They're staying away from home year round playing baseball and that includes summer time. They need that place to stay."
The majority of the roster will begin showing up to Great Bend May 25 with the season getting underway June 2. Ward said the commitment as
a host family is roughly two months and the players are pretty low maintenance.
"Host families just need to allow some space for the guys, a place they can rest, keep their belongings and clean up," said Ward. "There are some meals that are provided, but most people will find that these guys are gone at least half the time playing and we take care of the meals then."
As of this week, the Bat Cats organization was searching for nine beds for
players. If you are interested in hosting a baseball player for the summer,

"We've had a really good group and a lot of good relationships have been formed with host families," said Ward.
