From Russell Play Park group...
As we gear up for the 3rd annual Lemonade Stand Challenge, we want to share an exciting update with y'all!
Over 20 years ago, our incredible Russell community came together to build a beautiful castle park playground in Memorial Park. Many happy hours have been spent there by area children, but now, the playground is nearing the end of its lifespan. Sadly, many of the trees surrounding the park caused damage to the park equipment during a recent storm. The park is fenced off while city crews clean up the debris.
Russell Play Park - The Plan:
We’re on a mission to raise funds to build a fully accessible playground in its place! This new playground will feature:
- Ramps for access to upper levels of the main play structure
- A wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round and glider
- Sensory equipment
- A surface material that ensures ease of movement for everyone, including those in wheelchairs and with mobility challenges.
The cost to make this dream a reality for Russell and surrounding communities is $1.5 million.

Our fundraising efforts are in full swing, and we've already raised over $130,000! Plus, we have an MOU in place with the City of Russell, contributing a whopping $300,000 towards the Russell Play Park!
The plan includes grants, business sponsorships, private donations, and events like our Lemonade Stand Challenge to make this dream a reality. This fall, we will have the opportunity to apply for a grant, which requires a 50% match! With this in mind, we've set an aggressive summer fundraising goal of $100,000!
Please join us in this crucial campaign and help us meet our goal! We can't do it without YOU!
