So many new pieces of equipment one could open a small hardware store. Auctioneer Brian Bellendir with B&B Auction calls this weekend’s auction just north of Great Bend a once-in-a-decade event. Roto-Mix is making some changes to its business and will be selling surplus parts and equipment Saturday at 9 a.m., at 422 N. Washington four miles north of Great Bend.
“This is probably going to be one of the largest equipment and parts sales for a decade,” Bellendir said. “It is huge. This is surplus inventory and equipment, coming from Roto-Mix in Hoisington. They’re consolidating some lines, or retooling some lines, so they replaced some equipment. They have new equipment coming in so they need to get rid of the stuff they have.”
The auction will feature vehicles, lathes, milling machines, more than a dozen commercial welders, thousands of roller bearings from small to large, belts, and much more. Many of the parts are brand new in their original boxes or sealed bags. Many parts have been sorted by part number to make shopping for items easier.
“We have service trucks,” Bellendir said. “I have an F650 Ford service truck with an auto crane on it. Everything functions well. I have an F450 service truck with an air compressor and the lube filler lines on it. Everything starts and runs well.”
Other vehicles include a red 2005 Chevy Silverado Z71 pickup and a service van.
Items are available to view online at bbauctionks.com, or the public is invited to see the items in a special preview on Friday, Aug. 28, beginning at 9 a.m. Pre-bidding for select items is underway on the website. The highest online bid as of auction time will be the opening bid for the in-person event on Saturday. For many parts, buyers will have the opportunity to purchase small quantities before larger lots are sold.
Bellendir said there is plenty of space at 422. N Washington, near the conjunction of Washington Ave. and 281 Highway. Enter the lot and park on the south side. Trailers are welcome for those planning to purchase large items.
