Barton County’s Façade Improvement Grant Program is officially moving into Round 4, this time with all four major cities in the County participating.
During this week’s meeting, the Barton County Commission opened the next round of the program and approved the county to begin accepting applications. Claflin, Ellinwood, Hoisington, and Great Bend are all included in this round, creating a countywide opportunity to continue improving storefronts, commercial corridors, and community appearance.

Round 4 includes a $120,000 investment from Barton County, with participating cities having the opportunity to contribute matching funds. In total, the program could support up to $240,000 in improvements and assist as many as 12 businesses across the County.
Under this round, Claflin, Ellinwood, and Hoisington may each support up to two projects, while Great Bend may support up to six. Each city’s program and eligible areas may look slightly different, allowing local communities to help shape the program in a way that best fits their own downtowns, corridors, and business districts.

Commissioners noted that this round represents an exciting step forward in city and county collaboration. By working together, Barton County and its cities are continuing to invest in local businesses, strengthen communities, and build on the success of previous façade improvements.
The program also reflects a larger goal of making Barton County stronger through practical, visible investments that support business owners and enhance the places residents and visitors see every day.
Applications are now being accepted through Barton County. Business owners interested in learning more about eligibility, application requirements, or participating areas may contact the Barton County Administrator’s Office at 620-793-1800 or email dwatson@bartoncounty.org.
Additional information will also be shared through the County website and Barton County’s Facebook page.
