Leonard Joseph “Butch” Stos, 77, died Oct. 27, 2022, at his home in Otis. He was born April 25, 1945, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Leonard Valentine and Helen Marie (Budig) Stos. He graduated from Otis Rural High School in 1963 and later earned his mechanic certification from Vo-Tech School in Kansas City.
Butch then served in the United States Army as a motor sergeant, stationed in Korea and then Vietnam from 1965 to 1968. He worked as a mechanic at Gibson, Titus & Stafford and also owned Stos Radiator in Great Bend for many years.
He is survived by his wife Kim Ann Stos of the home; siblings, Karolyn (Charles) Schaffer of La Crosse, Debra Stos of Newton, Randy (Heather) Stos of Hoisington, and Tim (Lynette) Stos of Olmitz; father and mother-in-law, Stan & Bi Hannigan, and sister-in-law, Kim Le (Tom) Rebein, all of Great Bend; seven nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, celebrated by Father Anselm Eke, MSP. With burial and military honors to follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Olmitz.
