A request for the Great Bend Planning Commission to begin work on amending zoning to include solar farm and battery storage will be made at the Great Bend City Council meeting on Monday, March 4.
At the last city council meeting, the governing body was given a presentation from Acciona Energy on a proposed solar farm and battery storage project in which portions of the project lie within the three-mile jurisdiction of the City of Great Bend.
Barton County is currently working on its zoning regulations. At the end of the presentation at the previous meeting, Acciona’s representative asked if the city would consider doing the same to get those regulations in place to allow them to decide if they would choose to move forward under the new rules.
Once the Great Bend Planning Commission finishes the zoning regulations, the document would be brought before the city council for consideration.
Monday’s meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
