Hoisington Football is hosting in week 10, which isn't a surprise to anyone. The Cardinal program is one that's used to making deep playoff runs over the last decade-plus, and while winning in the short term is hard, it's harder to sustain success over long periods of time. Head coach of the Cardinals Zac Baird says it comes down to the quality of the coaches, and the buy-in from the kids.
"If you're going to sustain success, you know, your group changes year to year, but culture is a constant battle. It's something you battle every day. And people talk about it a lot, but I think our actions speak louder than words. How we approach the weight room every day, how we approach little drills every day. Do we let it get mundane? Are we on the hop moving from drill to drill, or on the hop going out to practice? That's tough.
"I always tell our guys that the formula to be successful is easy but the effort, the dedication, the sacrifice to get that formula completed; there's the challenge. We've been fortunate to have good kids come through, tough kids that are willing to work. I think if you do that, and you can learn that through the game of football it just sets you up to be so much more successful in life in whatever venture you choose. At the end of the day that's really the goal. To prepare these guys for life after high school and make sure they have the tools to be successful."
Hoisington hosts Chapman Friday night in their week 10 matchup, with coverage starting at 6:30 on 100.7 Eagle Country
