William L. Keener, 72, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, Kansas.
William was born August 29, 1952, in Danville, Arkansas, the son of Lonnie and Rowena (Thompson) Keener. He was a 30 year resident of La Crosse, Kansas, moving from Great Bend, Kansas. William was self employed and delivered The Hays Daily News and the Great Bend Tribune for many years before his retirement.
William loved fishing. Instead of watching football and basketball games on the television, he much preferred listening to them on the radio. He had an affection for older cars and pickups.
On June 4, 1994, he married Brenda Rogers at the United Methodist Church, McCracken, Kansas.
Survivors include: his wife, Brenda Keener, La Crosse, Kansas; two daughters, Carrie and Crystal; four grandchildren; two brothers, John Keener (Chris), Great Bend, Kansas, and Dalton Keener (Barbara), Pawnee Rock, Kansas; and two sisters, Freda Chapman, La Crosse, Kansas, and Paula Keener, La Crosse, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Monday, September 16, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas.
Graveside service will be Monday, September 16, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the McCracken City Cemetery, McCracken, Kansas, with Pastor Norma McNair officiating. Interment will be in the McCracken City Cemetery, McCracken, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the William L. Keener Memorial Fund.
