Alfred Heustis, 77, died Oct. 25, 2022, at his home in rural Russell. He was born June 22, 1945, in Tampa, Flo., the son of Alfred W. Heustis, Sr. and Clyde (Ward) Heustis. Al graduated from Plant High School in Tampa, and then served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
On Dec. 23, 1965, he married Rose Harrell at Fort Sill, Okla. Together they raised five children.
Al worked for 23 years for the Hensel Phelps Construction Company in Greeley, Colo. In 2009 he retired and moved to Kansas. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Olmitz.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose Heustis of the home; five children, Irene Moore of Omaha, Neb., Tonya Schneck of Lebanon, Penn., Alfred Heustis, III of Russell, Phillip Heustis of Winchester, Va., and Christopher Heustis of Warrenton, Va.; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Olmitz, with family to greet friends at the church at 1 p.m., and Rosary to follow at 1:30 p.m.. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2 p.m., celebrated by Father Anselm Eke, MSP. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.
