The Great Bend High School softball team went against its usual script in Tuesday night's state quarterfinals, as one of the best offenses in Kansas was held scoreless through five innings by nearly equally strong pitching from Goddard-Eisenhower.
It was a senior pitcher that led the way for the squad, as Braelyn Turner pitched a complete game shutout to send the Lady Panthers to the semis.
The Lady Panthers scored one run apiece in the 5th and 6th innings, both with two outs, as Camdyn Post scored from second on a Kya Behr single in the 5th, and Mikala Minton, running for catcher Kamryn Koelsch was driven home by freshman pinch hitter Rydlie Swanson.
The Lady Panthers will be taking on St. Thomas Aquinas in Wichita for the state semi-finals Thursday at 1 PM.
