Margaret Unruh, age 85

Margaret Rose Unruh, age 85 went to her heavenly home on July 21, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born in Bronx, New York on September 23,1937 to Albert and Annie (Buick) Ashcroft in Stanford, CT she married her college sweetheart, Rev. Victor C. Unruh on September 9, 1961. They met at Central Bible Institute and had 62 years of marriage.

Margaret was a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God. She and her husband, Victor pastored in many churches in Kansas and Iowa throughout their 50 years of ministry. She led children’s church, vacation Bible schools, kids crusades, Bible studies, and women’s ministries. She was on the district leadership team for the Kansas Women’s Ministries department for many years. After moving to Tarpon Springs her heart of service continued by working at her church and volunteering at the Advent Health Hospital gift shop.

Her cherished pastime besides reading was to her children and grandchildren. She embraced any moments of time to spend communicating with them through texting, phone calls, and emails. Prayers were sent up every morning during her devotion time with Victor. Her love for the Lord could always be seen through her kind, gentle sweet spirit in all her relationships with others. She truly wanted others to know and love the Lord as she did.

In addition to her husband, Victor, she is survived by her children, Laurie Madsen (Kent) of Montgomery, IL and Cheri Stancer (Robb) of Livonia, MI; her brother, George Ashcroft of Trinity, FL; five grandchildren, Kailea Leal (Isai), Brianna Stancer, Kameron Stancer, Kirsten Madsen and Trey Madsen; and two great granddaughters Adelina and Raya Leal. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Albert and Annie (Buick) Ashcroft; and her two sisters, Barbara Tollefson and Irene Gunderson.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A Graveside Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Dundee Valley Cemetery, Dundee, KS, with Reverend Robb Stancer presiding. A luncheon will follow at the Encounter Church in Great Bend, KS. A memorial has been designated to the Kansas Pastoral Benevolence Fund in honor of Margaret.
