With Thanksgiving recently put into the rearview mirror, the City of
Great Bend is shifting their focus over to Christmas. The Christmas season will
literally be ushered in Saturday, Nov. 30 with the Home for the Holidays
Parade and Festival.
Great Bend Community Coordinator Christina Hayes said
while the parade will begin at 5:30 p.m., there are plenty holiday-themed
events to keep everyone busy prior.
"During the day, there is the cookie contest," said Hayes. "With a $10 donation, you get a box and get to judge 20+ cookies. We also have the Dilly & Doc pop-up market that day. It's also the final day to register for the Explore Great Bend $1,000 giveaway."
Following the parade, there will be the mayor’s tree lighting downtown,
carriage and wagon rides, free food, a petting zoo, cornhole tournament and a
chance to visit with Santa Claus.
