Gene Marks passed away Jan. 22 in Hays. Marks served as Barton County Sheriff from 1976 through 1989. Marks was the longest serving Sheriff in Barton County history to date.
Marks served in the Air National Guard for eight years and the U.S. Army for four years. He graduated from Barton Community College.
Funeral service will be held at Minnis Chapel in Stafford on Jan. 27 at 2 p.m.
