Tally Wikum, Hoisington High School’s all-time career win leader with 102 victories in girl’s wrestling, recently signed a letter of intent to further her career with York Nebraska.

Wikum was a four-time state qualifier and a two-time state placer finishing 5th and 2nd at the KSHSAA class 1-4A tournament. “Tally’s freshmen year, she was in class 6-1A and just missed placing at the state tournament," said HHS Coach Dan Schmidt.

She would follow that up with the COVID year as a sophomore where she beat four of the girls that made the podium at state, but failed to place. Her junior year, she made it to the finals to finish second. As a senior, she was able to beat the eventual state champion at her weight during the season, but had a couple one-point losses at state to finish fifth in a weight that had five state runners-up in the field.

"She was a great team leader as well as a very outstanding wrestler,” said Schmidt. “Hoisington wrestling was blessed to have had Tally represent them the past four years, and has set a solid benchmark for the girls in the future to achieve.”
