Law enforcement officers and investigators have been present for most of the day Thursday at a location just south of the railroad tracks on 17th Street Terrace in Veterans Park. Shortly after 9 a.m., Great Bend Police were dispatched to the area, which was quickly cordoned off, including parts of the cemetery and most of 17th Street Terrace through the park.
Nearby Holy Family School issued the following statement to parents:
"Parents, we want to inform you that a missing girl was located northwest of our school outside the fence earlier today. As a precaution, all students and staff are inside the building, and everyone is safe."
A juvenile female was reported missing from the area Wednesday evening.
The Center for Counseling & Consultation announced Thursday afternoon that its Crisis teams will be on-site at Great Bend Middle School Friday to provide support for students who may need help processing the loss. Services are available for students, parents, educators, friends, and community members.
