
Donna Mary Fischer, 92, passed away August 22, 2025, at the University of Kansas Health Systems – Great Bend, Kansas. She was born on October 2, 1932, in Great Bend, to Alfred and Mary (Scarborough) Batchman. On October 8, 1950, she married Gerald J. Fischer at Peace Church in Hudson. He passed on August 27, 1986.
A lifetime area resident, Donna was a homemaker. She was a member of Peace Church and was active in many areas there through the years including Peace Circle, Church Ladies Guild, and Church Consistory, and was the oldest living member of the church at the time of her passing. Donna was also a member of EHU and served on the Stafford County Election Board. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, cooking and baking – known for her red velvet cake and cherry pie – bird watching, bowling, and watching western movies. She adored her family and spending time with them, including watching the grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Fischer of Great Bend, and Galen Fischer and significant other Sheryl Degenhardt of Hudson; daughter, Tammy Milton and husband Bill of Hudson; four grandchildren, Tom Fischer and wife Jennifer, Jamie Fischer, and Katelyn Kraushaar and husband Joe, all of Hudson, and Billy Milton and wife Brianna of Stafford; six great grandchildren, Braxton Fischer, Makenzie Kraushaar, Parker Kraushaar, Emersyn Milton, William Milton, Brady Milton; sister-in-law, Juanita Fischer of Stafford; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter-in-law, Ellen Fischer; twin great grandchildren, Wyatt Allen Fischer and Austin Lee Fischer; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Loren Haddon; and infant brother, Donald Batchman.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Peace Church, 492 NE 140th St., Hudson, KS, 67545, with Pastor Wade Russell and Pastor Tonya Andrews presiding. Interment will follow at Peace Church Cemetery, Hudson, Kansas. Visitation will be held from noon to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2025, with family receiving guests from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home.
