Tickets are now on sale for United Way of Central Kansas' Beer & BBQ fundraiser, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 9 from 1-4 p.m. at Dry Lake Brewing in Great Bend. This is the second year for the event, and UWCK Director Charell Owings said the hope is a repeat of last year's sellout crowd.
"It's just $40 per person," she said. "You get to have four half-pours of the drink of your choice from the bar, and you also get four sample sizes of various different kinds of barbecue that are provided from A&G Catering.
"It's just really fun, it's casual. We'll probably have a raffle drawing of some sort. We haven't pulled all that together yet, but we're still working on it. We'll have something fun people can buy tickets for and potentially win."
Great Bend's Alan and Gail Moeder of A & G Catering will prepare the meat. Samples include St. Louis ribs, pulled chicken sliders, beef tenderloin, and BBQ chili.
Funds raised from the Beer & BBQ event will support United Way's 22 Community Partners and numerous impact programs. Tickets may be purchased by contacting UWCK on Facebook, calling (620) 792-2403, or going to www.uwck.org and clicking on Events.
