Residents around Barton County began reporting loud noises Wednesday morning shortly after 9:30 a.m. Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir spoke with the FAA in Wichita and said the sonic booms can be expected throughout Wednesday and Thursday.
"It's the Tulsa Air National Guard," he said. "They're going to be operating in the area (until approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday). Then, from 1:20 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. they'll be operating in the area. They will also be operating in this corridor (Thursday) from 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m., and again (Thursday) from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., so we're probably going to hear multiple sonic booms."
