If you want to vote in next month’s elections in Barton County, you need to register to vote by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12. Barton County Clerk Donna Zimmerman said there are a number of races on the ballot this year.
"In Great Bend, we have the mayor and council members from each one of the four wards; the same exact situation in Hoisington,” Zimmerman noted. “Ellinwood has a mayor and two council members. Claflin has just three council members, no mayor at this time. Albert – mayor and five council members; Galatia – mayor and five council members; and the same for Olmitz and Susank. Pawnee Rock has three council members.”
Great Bend and Ellinwood voters will also be voting on sales tax increases. There are contested races for board member positions on all three school boards in the county. Five people are running for three trustee positions at Barton Community College. There will also be a vote for a trustee in the Ellinwood Hospital District and a board member for the Cottonwood Extension District.
If you’re not registered or you need to update your voter registration, Zimmerman says you should come to the County Clerk’s office at the courthouse or go to a voter registration outreach location.
If you have any questions, you can call the County Clerk’s office or go to the County Clerk’s website at bartoncounty.org.
