On Sunday, July 25 shortly after 11 a.m., detention officers in the Barton County Jail discovered an unresponsive inmate in his cell. Great Bend Fire Department EMS was called, and it was determined the subject was deceased.
The Barton County coroner’s office as well as the KBI were notified.
The case has been turned over the Kansas Bureau of Investigation as per state statute and Sheriff’s Office policy. Any further statements or comments will be made by the KBI.
