
On March 4 at approximately 11:41 p.m., an officer with the Great Bend Police Department stopped a subject on a bicycle in the 2600 block of 20th Street, as he believed the bicycle to have previously been reported stolen. During the stop, the officer contacted the victim of the stolen bicycle and confirmed the bicycle was stolen.
Charles Bowers, Jr., 40, was placed under arrest for possession of stolen property. While en route to the jail, Bowers, Jr., advised the officer that he had illegal narcotics inside of his backpack. Once at the Barton County Jail, officers located multiple illegal narcotics inside of the backpack. Bowers, Jr., was placed under arrest for distribution of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked in lieu of a $300,000 bond for the narcotics violation and $5,000 for the possession of stolen property.
