Marilyn (Klaus) Leiker, 80, Hays, died Thursday, September 29, 2022, at her home.
She was born March 14, 1942, in Hays, the daughter of Paul and Emmerentia (Haselhorst) Werth. In 1960, she graduated from Girls Catholic High School. She was the owner of Klaus Carpet. On June 2, 1962 she was united in marriage to Norman J. Klaus in Schoenchen, and they celebrated nearly 34 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 24, 1996. On June 30, 2001, she was united in marriage to Alexius “Alex” Leiker. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2020. She was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her two sons: Neil Klaus and wife Sondra of Hays and Nolan Klaus and companion Shelley of Olathe, four stepsons: Curt Leiker and wife Davina of Greeley, Wes Leiker and wife Jenni of Hays, Todd Leiker of Olathe, and Mike Leiker and wife Kelly of Hays, 14 grandchildren: Adam Klaus, Amber Albers and husband Kord, Mackenzie Klaus, Matthew Leiker, Bethany Boschert and husband Ian, Anjel Leiker, Alexis Leiker and husband Jason Banning, Emily Leiker and husband Nicholas Schmidt, Hannah Leiker, Brett Leiker, Nathan Leiker, Truan Leiker, Lizzie Leiker, and Jessica Leiker, four great grandchildren, four brothers: Arlen Werth and wife Gay of Great Bend, Ivan Werth and wife Shirley of Hays, Wayne Werth and companion Mary of Hutchinson, and Alton Werth and wife Terri of Pittsburg, TX, four sisters: Donna Jacobs and husband Ron of McCook, NE, Carolyn Windholz of Victoria, Joan Rogers of Ben Wheeler, TX, and Ellen Montgomery and husband Tom of Hays, two sisters-in-law: Lisa Werth of Hays and Irene Werth of Kanopolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Norman and second husband Alex, two brothers: Gary and Firman Werth, and two brothers-in-law: Wayne Windholz and Jerry Rogers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, October 3, 2022, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church with Fr. Damian Richards officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Sunday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Monday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A VFW Auxiliary rosary will be at 5:30 pm followed by a vigil service at 6:30 all on Sunday at the funeral home.
