Great Bend Police officers make arrests for rape, criminal threat

On May 22 at 6:26 p.m., officers with the Great Bend Police Department were dispatched to Love's County Store, 1211 10th St, Great Bend, in reference to a battery. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim who stated 31-year-old Brandon Goodwin had contacted her in violation of a valid court order and had also battered her. Officers located Goodwin a short distance away on 9th Street. During the process of arresting Goodwin for stalking charges, a bag of white crystal substance, as well as drug paraphernalia, was located on his person.  The substance was field tested and showed a positive result for methamphetamine. Goodwin was arrested and booked on charges of stalking and possession of methamphetamine.

On May 18, officers from the Great Bend Police Department were notified of an ongoing sex offense occurring in the city of Great Bend. Detectives began conducting interviews and gathering evidence regarding the allegations. Detectives were able to identify a suspect wanted in connection to the case. On May 26, at 3:10 p.m., officers received a notification from a LPR (License Plate Reader Camera) that the suspect's vehicle had just entered Great Bend. Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle and placed the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Reyes Valenzuela-Aguilar under arrest without incident. Valenzuela-Aguilar was transported to the Barton County Jail and booked in on the requested charge of rape, in lieu of a $500,000 bond.

On May 28 at 8:07 a.m., officers of the Great Bend Police Department were dispatched to Presto-Circle K, 2337 Washington Ave. in Great Bend, in reference to threats. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who reported a criminal threat that occurred at a residence in Great Bend. The reporting party advised that 30-year-old Daniel Gallagher had threatened to kill her with a handgun at the house where they both reside. Gallagher was located, and he was arrested and booked at the Barton County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
