Norma Angeline Stricker, 91, passed away on September 15, 2023, at Azria Health Woodhaven, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born on November 22, 1931, to John and Rachel (Steinert) Karst, in Hoisington, Kansas. Norma married Glen Stricker on September 28, 1952, at Bender Hill Lutheran Church in Russell County, Kan. He passed on August 17, 2022.
A lifetime Barton County resident, Norma was a homemaker for many years. She later worked in the banking industry, in general banking for the Credit Bureau and as a teller at Security State Bank. Norma was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, serving in WELCA and as the Church Council treasurer. She had great interest in ancestry/genealogy, cooking, sewing, and was an avid reader. Norma was known for turning the end results of whatever Glen grew in his garden into canned items or baked into pies. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include, a son, Anthony "Tony" Stricker of Great Bend; two daughters, Cynthia Axman of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Michelle Lanham and husband Chuck of Fort Worth, Texas; three sisters, Dolores Deutsch of Hoisington, Kansas, Marjorie Kraft of Ness City, Kansas, and Rita Thompson of Kansas City, Missouri; three granddaughters, Alisha Hunley and husband Clifton, Baylee Lanham and Keely Lanham; two great grandchildren, Jarrett Hunley and KayLynne Hunley; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; her parents; sister, Helen Schwien; and a grandson, Jared Axman.
Visitation will be held from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at St. Mark Lutheran Church with Pastor Adam Wutka presiding. Interment will be in Golden Belt Memorial Park. Memorials have been designated to St. Mark Lutheran Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
