
On Tuesday, June 03, at about 9:50 p.m., Barton County 911 received numerous complaints of a reckless driver in the area of Sunflower Estates (5501 9th, Great Bend). At about 10:05 p.m., a deputy with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office was in the area of the driving complaint when the deputy located the vehicle in question, a 2015 Silver Audi A4 passenger car.
The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 5100 Block of 10th Street for a traffic violation. The vehicle failed to stop for the deputy and began to flee from law enforcement through the City of Great Bend.
The vehicle became disabled during the pursuit and came to a stop in the 900 block of 10th Street. The driver was identified as 22-year-old Wesley Phillips of Great Bend.
Phillips was transported to the Barton County Detention Center on requested charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, felony flee and elude, felony DUI, criminal damage to property and numerous traffic violations. Phillips is being held on a $40,000 bond.
