Bicyclist in Great Bend arrested; drugs found

On Thursday, Nov. 16, at approximately 4:14 p.m., an officer with the Great Bend Police Department conducted a stop on a bicyclist near the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Williams Street. 

The cyclist was identified as Joshua Kelly, age 25. The officer believed Kelly to have a warrant for his arrest in which Barton County Dispatch confirmed.  The officer arrested Kelly, transporting him to the Barton County Jail. At the jail, Barton County Detention staff informed the officer that a syringe filled with a clear liquid, as well as marijuana were located in Kelly's belongings. Kelly informed the officer that the liquid was methamphetamine. 

Kelly was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, introduction of contraband into correctional facility and booked on a $50,000 bond.
